Snipers’ Nest at Little Roundtop

The rock walls and large stones or boulders afforded marksmen and snipers near the top of Little Roundtop concealed positions from which they could target troops at Devils Den or the Slaughter Pen down below and across the narrow valley. Today the advantage seems obvious, but at the time of the battle, the air was filled with black powder smoke and visibility was limited.
